Planning Forward

Preparing your business for a post-Covid future

With Jared Smith

Entrepreneurs risk everything and fight hard for their employees, clients and for the prospect of future returns. Covid-19 and associated lockdowns have added a layer of stress, anxiety, risk and disruption on top of what was already a tough fight for returns for Alberta business in rural communities.

Some businesses might not survive the pandemic-era, others will shift, adapt and/or wait things out - if they can afford it. Regardless, most entrepreneurs will do what they do best, they will innovate through. They will get creative. They will find opportunities in this time of crisis.

“Planning Forward” will provide participants with a unique perspective on how to adapt, innovate and future-proof their businesses in order to compete and thrive in the post-Covid era.

Jared Smith, the session leader, brings a wealth of experience, knowledge, and wisdom to organizations, small and large that attend his seminars. His unique presentation style encourages participants to evaluate their strengths and better understand the value they bring to their customers.

Designed for those of us who have an entrepreneurial mindset, Jared will lead participants through content and exercises that:

  • explore how an entrepreneurial, growth mindset can be used to your advantage as you navigate new ideas and competitive forces
  • discuss pathways to potentially disrupt your own industry
  • help to expose the powerful technological forces at the doorstep of businesses
  • discuss ways to leverage new new ways of thinking

For 20 years, Jared Smith, a Canadian-based business advisor, professional speaker, martial artist, and community ambassador, has been guiding various organizations across different industries. His most valuable contributions are in the realms of business development, relationship building, and growth strategy. Known for his work with purpose-driven leaders, organizations and social-impact projects, Jared has also cultivated other passions and is an accomplished adventure seeker, self-defense instructor, motivational speaker, and published author.

Jared and his family have enjoyed their summer cottage at Pigeon Lake in Poplar Bay for four generations. After a few summers working at Black Bull as a teenager, Jared started his first business at Pigeon in the late 1980s, offering landscaping and lawn maintenance services. With a special interest in working with rural entrepreneurs, Jared is keen to meet with and contribute to members of our Chamber.
